Join us at Wrightsville Beach on January 1st and kick off your New Year by Plungin' for a Purpose!
The 6th Annual Wrightsville Plunge benefits Communities In Schools of Cape Fear, which works to help keep kids in school, and on the path to graduation. What a great way to support our region's youth, and have a blast at the same time!
This year we are offering two Plunge Options! Long Sleeve Plunge Tee Included with your registration for the In Person or Virtual Plunge.
Option 1 - Take the Plunge in Person at Wrightsville Beach on January 1st.
New for 2021
1. Three Plunge Times (12:00PM, 12:30PM and 1:00PM)
To abide my current mass gathering guidelines. We will have three different Plunge times. We are limited to 150 participants in each of these time slots so you will want to register early to guarantee your spot! Register TODAY to hold your spot!
When you arrive at Wrightsville Beach you will see three corral/staging areas. While you are waiting to Plunge you will be asked to maintain social distancing and remain in your designated corral. Each corral will accommodate 50 Plungers. NOW..here is where the fun begins: during registration you will select from one of the three corrals (Penguin, Polar Bear, Narwhal). We encourage you to get your friends and family to help fill your corral!
3. No Onsite Registration
We get it...the Wrightsville Plunge is often a game day decision. And we often see almost half of you register onsite at the Plunge. Due to limited capacity this year, we anticipate we will be SOLD OUT prior to New Years Day. Online Registration will be available until we Sell Out. If we still have space on New Years Day you can register from the comfort of your home or your car before arriving at the Plunge. As you register you will be able to see the available time spaces in each time slot and corral.
Option 2 - Take the Plunge Virtually - anytime and anywhere on January 1st.
If you can't make it to Wrightsville Beach for New Years Day OR if the In-Person Plunge is sold out. We want to invite you to still be part of the fun! Plunge anytime and anywhere on New Years Day.

The mission of Communities In Schools of Cape Fear is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. To fulfill our mission, we place staff inside targeted, high-need public schools, who work directly with vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out throughout the school day. We empower over 1,000 students to stay in school and on the path to graduation each year. Our trained student support specialists do this by partnering with counselors and teachers, mobilizing the community to offer extra support, and doing whatever it takes to help students succeed. Our unique model works because it’s based on national research, driven by community relationships and supported by local resources. Current programs include Student Support Specialists at 13 area schools, afterschool programs and remote learning labs at 6 schools in Pender County and at our downtown youth center, WIRE; and programming to support and empower teen parents.
During the 2019/2020 school year, we reached over 13,000 students with general supports such as delivering basic needs and school supplies and facilitating career fairs; and we case managed an additional 1,126. Of those, 93% graduated; 99% stayed in school; 88% improved academically; 74% improved attendance; and 93% improved behavior.
